Real flexibility - Any event can be added to the integrated action sequence by assigning it either a fixed or fluctuating speed. Thus, a falling chandelier may take 3 seconds to fall to the ground. This action is added to the sequence. Between the snap of the chain and the dazzling crash characters may use the precious moments to dive, yell to others, push adversaries, or any other action they can load into their action queue and execute. This preserves realism, enhances tension, and creates an opportunity for creative exchanges. The era of the senseless arbitrary roll is over.
Damage and bleeding - There are no less than four completely different systems for modeling damage in Epic Fantasy Role-playing. You are offered choice because each group has a different style of play and because creating a new methodology is made easy with integrated action.
Knockdowns, knockouts, stumbles, and other damage related effects have always been difficult to manage in turn based systems. These effects could be no more complicated in Epic Fantasy than "handing" a player a coloured card with an effect on it. The stages of recovery are easy to manage. When the colour on the card is called it is turned over for the next effect.
Damage can be marked against threshold zones by body part, and healing integrated into the action of the colour wheel. Whatever your game, from intensely realistic to comic book fun can be modeled by Epic Fantasy's damage rules.
Magic and more... Like damage their are many systems of magic that can be employed in Epic Fantasy Role-playing. As a skill based system you can create groups of related skills to introduce into your campaign that can generate hundreds of hours of fascinating game play. Any system that you devise can leverage the power of integrated action to its benefit.
For example, one of the systems outlined in the core rulebook allows a character to generate magical energy. As a character increases in skill they are to gather energy more quickly (have a faster colour). This energy is stored and used in activating other magical skills. The more energy is used in a magical skill, the greater the effect. This breeds a number of spin off effects and skills -- knowledge of magical stances to increase gathering speed, crystals to harness energy, locales that hinder/aid in gathering energy, etc. In other systems this would become cumbersome, but Epic Fantasy makes this kind of system not only possible, but easy to manage.
